Greetings Nomads,

November game done. Thanks to Umkomaas Golf Club for hosting us once again. I still cannot get my head around why we fail to fill the field at this fine venue. Thanks to the Management and staff who once again treated us to a good day, good food, cold beers and a course that on paper looks rather easy to play.

The only thing missing was the renowned lamb spit that Umthunzi did last year. I understand that the bosses opted for the cash rather than giving something back to the members this time. Pity, but then it showed in the numbers didn’t it! 70 members only, shame.

By all accounts there was nothing spectacular in the scores. Divisional winners were in the mid 30’s and the stats are as follows: 3 players made more than 32 points, 25 protected their handicap and 42 played garbage. Not bad considering that Gold Cup is next month. Makes you think, doesn’t it.
Now let’s talk Gold Cup, we have a new sponsor for the day in Curnow Insurance. Thank you chaps, it’s much appreciated. For the boys who are jockeying for positions it all comes down to this final days play at Sheppie’s.

Leading the field for Player of the year and MFC Champion is Ryan “Peacock” Ringo, 1 point ahead of John ”Slim” Ridl. In fact the first four placed are all separated by a point apiece.

Do yourself a favour and go on to the website and look up the Annual Results, you may just be surprised to see your name up there and in contention.
It’s all to play for in this one.

Till next time keep it on the fairway.
