Golforama is a patent purchased by CNA in 1963 for the exclusive use of Nomads. It is the name of the scoring system cleverly devised by Nomads to facilitate "real-time" scoring at professional and other events in Southern Africa sanctioned by the South African Golf Association, Sunshine Tour and European Tour Events.

The system relies on volunteers from Nomads giving up their time to assist at tournaments by operating electronic equipment supplied by the Sunshine Tour organisers to record player's scores at each of the 18 holes. These electronically recorded scores are transmitted to a central control point operated by Nomads and in turn disseminated to the main scoreboard as well as various scoreboards around the course for "live" spectator updates. In addition to the manpower in the control room, scoreboard operators and greenside recorders the club also provides roving reporters who follow the leading 10 groups recording statistics and scores for television viewers assisting with the promotion of golf as a spectator sport. Although as Nomads we volunteer our time to ensure the success of Golforama, Nomads South Africa is compensated for the service and the proceeds of the money is expended on projects for the furtherance of golf.

Southern Natal Nomads were awarded only one tournament this year being the Sun Wild Coast Sun  which was held on 23rd to 25th August.  The tournament ran quite smoothly for which we were complimented on by the Sunshine Tournament officials. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers for giving up their time to help make this tournament a success.                                                                                                                                                             Yours in Nomads                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Bob Hall  Golforama Coordinator

Nomads with the winner Oliver Bekker.

There have been changes in the Sun Shine Tour schedule for 2017 and the unfortunate news for the Southern Natal Nomads is that we have only been allocated one (1) tournament this year. The Vodacom Origins of Golf has been moved to Zimbali Golf Course and Natal Nomads will be hosting them. We still have the Sun Wild Coast Sun Challenge at the Wild Coast Golf Course in August 2017.

I am looking forward to working with all the volunteers once again. Any volunteers can contact me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or on my cell 082 448 0600.  Watch this space!!!

Good day to all Nomads reading this report.  As the Golforama Coordinator for Southern Natal Nomads I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who gave of their time to assist at this event which was held on the 24th, 25th and 26th August 2016.  Nomads did an excellent task and held our name high.  Nomads was thanked by the Tournament Director as well as by the winner, Jaco Ahlers, and other professional golfers for the excellent work done.  When a tournament has ended well and Nomad volunteers have done their nomadic duties exceptionally well it makes me proud to be part of Nomads. THANK YOU NOMADS AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS.
